Our sixth grade professional learning team has chosen three smart goals for the first trimester. Our literacy smart goal centers in and around student/teacher conferencing. Students will be receiving individualized instruction via a reading conference with his or her reading instructor. You can help your student at home by taking some time to talk with him or her about the book he or she is reading, listening to her or him read, and asking questions about what he or she has read. Our first mathematics smart goal for this trimester is to increase the number of the sixth grade students who are proficient in all basic facts (addition/subtraction/multiplication/division). You can help your student to attain this goal by using flash cards or just quizzing them on these facts.
Our second math smart goal for this trimester is to develop the ability of our students to write special cases for a general algebraic pattern, complete a table from a formula and graph the data, and analyze the shape of a graph and draw conclusions about data trends.
