About Ms. Parling

My name is Francine Parling and this is my first year at Saint Paul Music Academy. I have taught ELL in the Saint Paul Public Schools since 2001.

I was born in California and moved to Alaska when I was 6 years old. I left "The Last Frontier" for the "Lower 48" to attend college. I have lived in the Twin Cities area since then.

I work in collaboration with the 3rd grade teachers and students in Reader's Workshop and Writer's Workshop and with the 4th grade students during Reader's Workshop in Ms. Sandin-Osvold's class.

I live in the Saint Croix Valley area with my family. In my free time, I like volunteering, playing my accordion, traveling (my new favorite place to visit is Tanzania), writing, and completing half marathons. My most memorable finish was at the Lost Dutchman's Half Marathon in Arizona when I ran the last 8 miles on a broken foot! Next August, I hope to participate in the Reykjavik Half Marathon and enjoy a long post-race soak in Iceland's famous Bláa lónið (Blue Lagoon).
