Ms. Norby and her family

My name is Sarah Norby and I am so excited to be back at Saint Paul Music Academy for the 2011-2012 school year! I have been a part of St. Paul Public Schools most of my life; both as a student and a teacher.  I started school at Linwood Elementary as a kindergartner - in the same classroom where my youngest daughter is currently a kindergartner herself!  I have been a teacher in St. Paul for almost 17 years!  This is my second year at SPMA and I absolutely love it here!

In 5th grade we are all about Learning and Laughter.  We work hard but make sure to incorporate fun into each and every day.  I encourage families to be an active part of our classroom community.  If you would like to come in and volunteer in our classroom, please contact me.

We are going to have a fantastic school year!

Drawing Art Residency

We have been lucky enough to have Deidre, a teaching artist, come into our class and teach us about drawing.  We learned how to really SEE what we are drawing and learned how to add details to make our drawing more realistic. Since 5th grade students learn about Native Americans in Social Studies, we chose to draw some food items that the Native Americans grew; Corn, squash, and beans.

Check out our pictures!  As soon as we have the drawings displayed; I will post pictures!
