I hope your child brought home your assigned conference date and time. Thank you to all who sent it back so promptly and for those of you who need a time change, I will be contacting you very soon. I am very pleased with many of the students’ improved study habits and it shows in their grades. Please keep encouraging hard work and active listening skills!
Here is a quick review of what we are currently working on in each subject area:
Math: We are in the middle of our unit on Geometry and Angle measurement. Please continue to work on basic multiplication and division facts with your child, as these skills are crucial for future success in math.
Writing: We are in the middle of our unit on writing a memoir. Students are learning about writing descriptive settings and interesting characters.
Social Studies: We are continuing our study of the Native Americans and we will focus on the different tribes that settled in different areas of the United States.
Reading: We are working on Mysteries for the next week as a whole class and students are also working in their assigned small reading groups. Please be sure your child is reading for 20 minutes every night and completing their Weekly Reading Response sheet. It is handed out every Friday and due the following Friday.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call me at 651-744-2206 or e-mail me at patty.miller@spps.org. Thank you for your continuing support!
Sincerely,
Patty Miller
