The Franklin-North End Student Council is up and running, advised by our Gifted Services Specialist, Ms. Sauer. What is Student Council ?A group of student leaders in grades 3-6 who are elected to discuss, decide, and advise on school issues. The student council works to make Franklin-North End a better school for everyone. The Council will meet 1-2 times per month on Friday mornings. Why do we have a Student Council? The purpose of Student Council is to empower students so that they have a “voice” in what happens in our school. Student Council also gives students opportunities for leadership within our school community. What does a Student Council do? • Organize students for morning announcements • Voting for and supporting School Spirit Days • Mentoring younger or new students to our school • Organizing community service projects like food drives, card-making for senior citizens, etc • Collect Classroom $$ for Pennies for Patients campaign • Surveying other students to find out what they think about various school issues • Helping to write Student Council updates for school newsletter • Participating in monthly assemblies • Support No-Name Calling Week Two student leaders per homeroom class were elected to serve as the official “delegates” for all of the students in that class (one representative will be paired with a primary grade classroom). Representatives help discuss and decide on ideas, projects, events, fundraisers, field trips and so on. The representatives record information and are the spokespersons for the views of the other students We are pleased to announce our 10-11 Student Council Representatives: North End: 3rd Grade- Terrance, Kai, Marilyn and Baby 4th Grade- Trey, Kengly, Trinity and Tamika 5th Grade- Pedro, Montana, Krystal and Madison 6th Grade- Brandon, Keenan, Destiny and Ebony Franklin Music Magnet: 3rd Grade - Elizabeth, Derissa, Skye and Mariana 4th Grade- Kayshooly, Santos, Dioscelin and Xee 5th Grade- Vang, Xia, Sherita and Soua 6th Grade- Chailse, Carmen, Isiah and Heidi
