“Pennies for Patients” CampaignJanuary 24 – February 11, 2011

Did you know that this year more than 3,000 kids in America will find out they have blood cancers like leukemia or lymphoma? That’s why our student leaders have chosen to participate once again in the “Pennies for Patients” fundraising program to raise money for kids with cancer.

Every year, schools across the U.S.A are raising money to help these kids with cancer to get well. You can help the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society by donating your spare change or dollar bills. Just send in any extra coins that you can and we will donate all funds raised to help fight cancer. We hope you will be part of the “Pennies for Patients” campaign this year because EVERY PENNY COUNTS! This will be the first year that Franklin-North End is participating and our goal is to raise at least $600.

Starting on January 24th, each k-6 classroom will have a container for collecting any coins that are donated. Please send in any pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, or dollars that you can spare. Help us save lives! Coins will be counted each week and our progress will be documented on a chart in the hallway next to the Student Council Bulletin Board in the main hallway. ***Any adults who prefer to donate by check, please write the check to “Leukemia & Lymphoma Society” and write “Franklin-North End school” on the memo line***
Ending on February 11th, we will count up the grand total donated by each classroom and divide by the number of students in that class to find the per student average. The classroom with the highest per student average will be chosen to have a FREE PIZZA PARTY, as a way to say,“Thank you for helping to brighten the future for kids with cancer!”
